"If every pork chop were perfect, we wouldn't have hot dogs". One of its main morals is that if something doesn't turn out the way you want it to, this gives opportunities for other good things to happen.
Plenty of beautiful and very true morals for children and even adults. The writing and pacing is amazing, because like Teen Titans, it is a serious and mature show that also manages to be consistent by balancing it out with humor and comedy, mostly thanks to Steven himself. The songs the characters sing are adorable and well-written, and the way they sing the songs is beautiful, especially Pearl's song "It's Over, Isn't It", where she sings about how much she liked her diamond and she chose Greg, leaving Pearl with their son, or "Familiar", where Steven is on Homeworld and feels as though he is recognizing how his mother lived as a diamond. The background music fits perfectly for the mood, whether sad and emotional, funny and peaceful or epic and action-packed. Amethyst tends to indulge Steven more than the other Gems and partakes in human activities with him, generally being carefree to a fault while showing concern for his well-being in times of more severe danger. Garnet is often the most pragmatic and straightforward of the Crystal Gems, but still tends to act on intuition rather than seriously analyzing a situation, as often seen throughout the series. Pearl is a gem who, in spite of her pessimism and perfectionism, is usually polite and reserved to others she keeps everything set orderly and tidy. Despite all of this, he still generally holds an optimistic but grounded attitude. For example, Steven is an extremely sympathetic character, being a teenager trying to live up to the expectations of everyone while being hunted by villainous gems from Homeworld for things that his war criminal mother Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz did, who faked her death on her own planet and gave birth to Steven, now existing in his gem. Realistic, empathetic and likable characters that develop over time, adding to the plot of the show. Fluid animation and character expressions that are either emotional or comical when they need to be, especially when they are overcome with grief about a lost loved one. And the character designs and color palettes are fitting for each character. The background design is simple yet unique and visually stunning. Despite his shortcomings, Steven usually finds a surprising way to save the day. 
The goofball is learning to save the world using the magical powers that come from his bellybutton and he goes on magical adventures with the rest of the Crystal Gems, even though he's not as powerful - or smart - as fellow group members Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl. Half-human, half-Gem hero Steven is the "little brother" of the group.
The Crystal Gems are a team of magical beings who are the self-appointed guardians of the universe.
